| 主讲人简介： | Jia He is an assistant professor in the School of Finance at Nankai University. She obtained her PhD from National University of Singapore in 2014.
Her research mainly focuses on real estate finance, behavioral finance, and household finance. Her research has been published in international refereed journals including Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Review of Finance, Journal of Real Estate Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics. |
| 讲座简介： | This paper examines how the housing value owned by parents affects children’s caregiving behavior. Using three waves of a comprehensive national survey data from 2011 to 2015 of China, we find that as the housing value goes up, non-only children take more care of their parents including contacting more frequently and increasing economic support. We observe more pronounced effects for elder parents. By contrast, only-children's care for their parents is not affected by the housing value. Further, the changes in ‘invisible’ financial assets such as deposit, stock, and fund have no effect on children’s caregiving behavior. Children’s care indeed has a positive effect on parent’s health and happiness.
