Every year, Xiamen University welcomes thousands of new students from all over China, offering a wide selection of majors in almost all fields of study. The university also gives a plethora of academic opportunities to international students.
This year Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) and the School of Economics (SOE) welcomed 22 new foreign students from all over the world. New faces from the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania and Asia arrived in Xiamen eager and ready to begin the fall semester of its international master programs in economics, finance and international trade.
More than 30 people attended the event, including some foreign students from the WISE & SOE exchange programs.
The dinner was full of positive energy. The new students had an opportunity to taste the traditional Chinese food and more importantly, to meet and know each other not just as classmates but as people with something in common. It didn’t matter they come from different countries or even from different continents, but all of them seemed ready to learn from others about their culture, their language and from their experiences of living abroad and studying away from home. Every year a new family is born here at Xiamen University because students share their happiness, their sadness, and their toil together. In this way true, real friendship emerge among foreign and Chinese students at our “Xiada”.
